Baby brother

E: Mommy and Daddy, I want a baby brother.

E: Because I don't have one.

E: Daddy, can you put my [cereal] bowl away?
D: You should put the bowl away when you're finished.
E: I'm busy reading my book.
D: What book are you reading?
E: I'm reading the how to be bossy book.
D: Oh, so you're Mr. Bossy Pants.
E: Yes, I'm bossy underpants.

M reads a book about the skeleton to E and E declares "cartilage is part of booger!"

E somehow has memorized "Let It Go" from Frozen in its entirely and has demonstrated so during sing along. 😂

Yesterday E spilled water on the couch and wet two cushions.  This morning he looked at the cushions standing on top of the couch...
E: Hey, they are dry now.
(Puts the cushions back into the couch)
E: I put them away all by myself!  That's what big boys do!

E: ...we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year...
M: But it's July right now...
E: Ohhh Mommy, just let me sing it! 😒

Xmas in June

Frosty the Snowman

Frosty the Snowman, was a jolly happy soul,
With a corn cob pipe and a button nose, and two eyes made of coal.

Frosty the Snowman, is a fairytale, they say.
He was made of snow, but the children know he came to life one day.

There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found,

For when they placed it on his head, he began to dance around!

Oh, Frosty, the Snowman, was alive as he could be; and the children say he could laugh and play, just the same as you and me.

Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump, look at Frosty go.

Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump, over the hills of snow.

Frosty the Snowman, knew the sun was hot that day, so he said, "Let's run, and we'll have some fun now, before I melt away."

Down to the village, with a broomstick in his hand,

Running here and there, all around the square,
sayin', "Catch me if you can."

He led them down the streets of town, right to the traffic cop; and only paused a moment, when he heard him holler, "Stop!"

For Frosty, the Snowman, had to hurry on his way,

But he waved goodbye, sayin' "Don't cry, I'll be back again some day."

So proud and nice...

E: I'm so proud that you got me this [stretchable insects from Oakland Museum store].  That is very nice of you, Daddy.

(Woke up from nap) E: Mommy you went to space without me.
M: What do you want to do now?
E: Go to space!
M: Like in a rocket?
E: (Nods)
M: We'll see what we can do.
E: (Went back to sleep)

Makes you drink water

(Eating phở)
E: This soup makes you thirsty. You need to drink water.
(Eating mac & cheese)
E: Mac & cheese makes you drink water too!

Stop tricking me

M: I'm Evan.
D: I'm Mama.  You're Daddy.
E: Stop tricking me!

Oh my gosh.

The best pancakes!

E: Daddy, can we go downstairs?
D: What are we going to do downstairs?
E: I'm hungry.  Can you make the best pancakes for me?
D: (Laughs) Oh okay.

M: Evan, who is Daddy's Mama?
E: Grandma.
M: What you do call Grandma in Vietnamese?
E: Goong hei fat choy!

(At the dinner table...)
M: You ate all of Mama's fish.  Mama's sad.
E: We go buy some more.
M: Can you go to buy some more?
E: I don't have money.
M: Who have money?
E: Mama and Daddy.
D: How do we get money?
E: At the store!

My hands are warm

M: Why are your hands so warm?
E: *points to bed* Because I slept well on my bed.
M: So Mama didn't sleep well?
E: No. That's why your hands are cold.

My hand is broken...

Convo yesterday with Daddy while playing with his toy trains:
Daddy: why don't you use your other hand to move the trains?
Evan: This hand is broken (lifts up right hand). It has no more power.
